An art-education project, which aimed at familiarizing children with Wroclaw’s rich dance and theater tradition, through the support of local cultural institutions and the cooperation of people who have artistic ties to Wroclaw.
The following actors, dancers, and movement practitioners took part: Przemysław Błaszczak, Maria Fekecz, Jakub Gontarski, Justyna Jagielnicka, Katarzyna Kostrzewa, Rafał Kronenberger, Irena Lipińska, Maćko Prusak, Justyna Rodzińska-Nair, Patryk Stolarz, Iga Załęczna, Hubert Żórawski, the Orun Capoeira and Feel Free Parkour & Freerun groups from Swidnica, and Unicar Capoeira Regional group from Wroclaw.
Workshops and lectures on the history of dance theater were conducted simultaneously in two cities: Wroclaw and Swidnica. Conducting this project in different environments and places helped us to learn the ways of making young dance audiences more sensitive, and how to foster the creative potential and fascination with dance in children and teenagers.
During the workshops, the participants had a chance to learn elements of the following dance and movement techniques: improvisation, contact improvisation, modern dance, martial arts (judo, capoeira, kalaripayattu), conscious bodywork (yoga), pantomime, circus acrobatics, and parkour. Each edition ended with a presentation performed by participants. Overall, 24 practical workshops, 26 multimedia lectures, and 4 final shows have been conducted.
The project has been implemented with the cooperation of Institute of Music and Dance as a part of the Thought in Motion 2015 program
